BlueConnect Handsfree Awesomeness

I bought a 2008 Honda Accord in January. When I bought the car, I negotiated having their handsfree bluetooth thingy installed in my car (for a much cheaper price than for those of you who would go into a Honda right now and purchase). The only problem was that they didn't have one of the pieces necessary for it to fit in the designated area. So I had to wait...

In lieu of the new law that comes into effect on July 1, I decided it was time to get this think installed. So last Thursday, I left my car at Clawson Honda.

I was really excited for this, but there was one problem. The phone I own is the AT&T (HTC) 8525, and they said that it wasn't compatible with BlueConnect. I talked to HTC support, I talked to BlueConnect support (they told me that they did rigorous testing and the 8525 just would not work with it), I even talked to AT&T (which was a big mistake, they never know anything)...

Today, I thought I was going to have to buy the new iphone (since they said this one would pair with my new device). But my father is a genius. He found out through a dealer down in Bakersfield, who actually knows something about the BlueConnect device, that you could purchase a patch from a company called Jetware that would enable me to use my phone with this overpriced contraption.

And they were right. It worked. Blake and I paired my phone and his phone to my car, and it is AWESOME! I love technology, and I love it even more when the different pieces of technology work together. I just hope it continues to work well...

So the next time you call me, and I am in my car, I will be talking to you over the speakers in my car!

Failures

I know that they say that their is a lesson with every failure, and I am sure there is one, but right now, I don't see it.

Or maybe it is just time for a change...possibly Sunday nights instead of Tuesday night...

Or maybe it is because it is summer time...

Or maybe it is because everyone is at home watching the Fresno State Baseball game...

I just don't know...

Good Friends

My friend Meredith is one of those friends who I use to be really close with, but due to life, we have drifted apart, both in relation to our communication and distance. When I do get to talk or see her, it as if we have not been apart.

She was one of my best friends in high school. We had a lot of fun and didn't get in trouble nearly as often as we should have. Although she lives in Roseville, is married, and has a kid, whenever we get to see each other, we pick up right where we left off and it is as if we were back in high school (we act like we are in high school sometimes still too...just ask my mom).

Meredith came over for dinner tonight, with her 9 1/2 month year old son. We had a great time. She got to meet Blake. We hung out on the almost finished deck. Laughed about old times, talked about the future, and watched my mom chase baby Ryan all over the deck so he wouldn't fall off.

It was a great night with a great friend. We have stayed good friends for 8 years now, and I know that Meredith will be one of those friends as we get older we can reminisce about old times and talk about what is to come.

Grace-filled Living and Good Habits

Blake and I are going through a book called Devotional Classics. Tonight, we read a passage by E. Stanley Jones. It is excerpts from his book Conversion. I took a lot from this reading.

In the beginning, he talks about the gift that God gives us, a relationship with Him and eternal life, and how we must live in accordance with His word. One of my favorite quotes from this section (and Blake had to point it out to me) was "We trust as if the whole thing depended on God and work as if the whole thing depended on us". Our salvation is a gift from God, and there is nothing we can do to obtain it. But we are suppose to receive His grace and forgiveness and respond by doing good works that God has set in place before the beginning of time.

The other part of the devotion that really stuck out to me was a reminder of the simple acts, or habits, that will only help me in my walk with the Lord.

These habits are:
1. Reading the Word daily-The Bible is God's way of revealing himself to us.
2. Praying in Private-When we read the word, God speaks to us. In prayer, we speak to God. Then God speaks to us directly in words to us.
3. Tell others about the things that God is teaching you-You never know when it will be exactly what somebody needed to hear.

It is always encouraging when Blake and I have these times together. We think so differently, and God reveals himself to each one of us in different ways, that I always walk away from these times sharpened and edified.

Nick and Michelle's Wedding

Nick Jones and Michelle Cribbs were married last night. I met Nick by chance our freshman year of college. We randomly sat next to each other in an english class. At that time, Nick did not know the Lord (although he was on church leadership and if you had asked him, he would have said he was). Through a long journey, Nick became a child of God about 3 years ago. He has gone through quite a transformation and I am so excited for the two of them. Blake has become good friends with Nick over the years as well and was a groomsman in his wedding. We are both looking forward to hanging out with the Jones' when they return from Cancun.

Brad Paisley Concert

On Thursday night, Brad Paisley and three "special guests" were in Fresno for a concert. Blake is always surprising me, so I decided that it was my turn to surprise him. Blake loves country music (he also likes alternative, but since I am not a big fan he usually has it on country when I am in his truck). I wasn't quite sure how I was going to keep the secret from him, since I like to tell him everything, and for the fact that it is all over the radio.


Then I remembered he doesn't listen to regular radio, he only listens to satellite (on satellite radio they call regular radio "terrestrial radio"...lame). That pretty much solved my problem. BUT...then one day his truck needed to be worked on, and he had a different work truck, one without satellite radio, and he was going to be driving it out of town...I thought it was all over. Somehow, God's love shone through in a whole new way (just kidding), because around 8 pm the night before he was going out of town, his truck was ready :)



I let Blake pick where we were going to dinner, so we went to Yosemite Ranch. As we were driving down Cedar, I purposely passed Shaw to throw him off (like he wasn't going to know where we were going in about 3 minutes anyways....). He asked if we were going to a concert at the Save Mart Center, I told him yes, but he still didn't know who. We parked near the Mundy's place, got out of the car, I handed him his ticket, and he got this huge grin on his face. He couldn't have been happier.



And that is why I like to surprise Blake. I don't do it often, but when I do, it is always priceless. He never expects it, and I know that whatever it is, he is going to love it because it is from me.

And to top it all off, there was this guy in front of us who was hilarious. On several of Brad's songs, he was doing this with his hands...


I am not sure what he is grabbing, but he did this during the song "I'm still a guy"...

Life has been very full lately, and there has been so much going on...

Work has been crazy.

I went to Catalina over Memorial Day weekend.

Just got back from DC with Blake and we had a phenomenal time.

All that to say I am back and will be blogging shortly. With all that has been going on, there has been a lot on my mind. And of course, there are always crazy stories with every event in my life....
